It is true Interplay has no interest giving out the code but they have no interest in keeping it also. Max is 7 years old game. Almost noone remembers it. If they give aut the code fans can make this Interplay`s unwanted child immmortal.
What I mean it to join forces and work together to actualy do something. One big organisation can be much more succesful ie. in talking out interplay to give up MAX source code, so enthusiasts could do windows version, direct sound support, new models, tcpip etc. Look at QuakeWorld - this game is so old as max is and today it has better graphics than Q3 becouse QW community works together to develop QW basing on source that ID has published.
Think about the second birth of M.A.X.
